Things to inform your students of when you start working on Web pages. (From K12 Data Center FAQs)

The goal of the “State of South Dakota K-12 Students Web Services” project is to establish a safe web location for South Dakota K-12 students to establish their own web site. It is our hope that this service can be fun, educational (learn how to develop web pages), and also provide an area where students can place their course work and other educational materials.

By establishing safe web space, we feel we are helping our students prepare for the future.

Notice: Please note that we are very cautious about allowing students access to this system. There is a certain amount of trust we need to put in the clients (i.e. Adult Teachers, now students) that utilize our system. We just want you to be aware of this and please use caution with these accounts. Obviously, any malicious activity will not be tolerated, and could result in your loss of connection to the DDN. (Be sure you read your own school's AUP, the State MOU and other DDN documents)

I guess what we are saying is that the responsibility resides with the school that the students will act in a proper manner and not try any type of hacking or malicious activity when editing web pages on the State K-12 servers.

And still more information.

Student User ID’s or Student Web requests will only be accepted from the K-12 Data Center “Contact Person” (Typically the Technical Coordinator) from your school district.

When submitting a request for Student User ID’s or Student Webs, the School District is guaranteeing that the accounts being created, will be used, at minimum, within accordance of the following documents:
